Scott Parven, Founder and President of Parven Pomper Strategies, has successfully represented Fortune 500 companies, major trade associations and foreign governments for well over a decade. His political acumen and policy advice have earned him accolades by numerous publications, including “Best In The Business” by The Hill newspaper and National Journal magazine. His experience at major corporations, law firms and consultancies have made him a trusted Democratic counsel to CEO’s, Trade Association executives and foreign dignitaries alike.
Before founding PPS, Scott Parven had a distinguished record of government relations success on behalf of some of America’s most well-know corporations. As head of international public policy at Aetna, he helped the company transform into a global financial services leader through his work with foreign governments, the U.S. Congress, White House and other dignitaries. He led the effort to build company relationships throughout Asia and Latin America and served as Chief of Staff to the Chairman of Aetna International while concurrently serving as global policy chief. His successes in establishing public-private partnerships across the globe earned him Aetna’s most distinguished award for executives—Aetna Chairman’s Award for Extraordinary Service. His most notable achievement was delivering a life insurance license for Aetna in the PRC which was announced at a Presidents Clinton-Ziang summit in 1997. That license was only the second such license granted by the Peoples Republic of China and was a widely acclaimed government relations victory.
At AOL Time Warner, Scott Parven represented a number of the company’s internal clients including AOL, Time Inc, CNN and Turner Broadcasting. His international and domestic government relations portfolio on behalf of the company’s senior executives included issues of tax, international trade, intellectual property and other issues of importance to the individual businesses.
Although his professional practice is now limited to legislative lobbying, Mr. Parven also had successful stints at the global law firm Mayer Brown under Secretary Mickey Kantor and at the Federal Policy Group. At Mayer Brown he was Chair, Public Policy and represented a wide range of business interests for the firm.
Scott Parven has notably been affiliated with centrist Democrats for his entire professional career and has developed close relationships with Members of Congress and staff in driving market-based solutions to public policy problems.
He is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of law and Vassar College. He lives in Maryland with his wife Cari and three children.
